Why Haven’t You Learnt Something New???
I used to be of the school of thought that if you didn’t learn a creative skill early, it’ll be too late for you in your 30s or 40s. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The process of learning something new, be it a skill, a new language or a craft, is totally satisfying. I mean there are a host of reasons why you need to learn something new, but I’ll only be touching on 4 of those reasons.
Self confidence on a 100!
There is a kind of self confidence that comes with being able to learn something new, kind of like you’ve conquered some great war or won a battle. There will be a little spring in your step.
What stress?
When you’re learning something new, it helps you break out of your regular daily routine, gives you something fresh to look forward to, this can be a huge relief to stress, it can be your escape from the hassles of the real world.
Knowledge is power
This saying is cliche, but it’s truth cannot be over emphasised. The more you know, the more powerful you feel, the more relevant you feel. Don’t believe me? Give it a try then, learn something new today, or this week, or this month.
Find/rediscover yourself
There are things that you may have taken an interest in years ago, but due to life and it’s usual way of happening, you dropped those things. You can pick them up again, learn/re-learn…rediscover yourself. Trust me it will be a worthwhile journey.
The list of reasons why you should learn something new goes on and on and on. Now tell me, what new thing do you want to learn/have always wanted to learn? What has stopped you from learning it?
